Night at the Dogs.

Hey. I’ve been trying to do new things lately, experience different things, understand how certain things work and general get out there and enjoy life more. Spontaneously, last Friday night I went to the ‘Owlerton Stadium’ in Sheffield which for those that don’t know is the greyhound dog races. It was a really great night, I highly recommend going!

We paid £15 each for entry and to go into the restaurant and have a three course meal! There was a lot of choice on the menu but I went for the Prawn Cocktail for starters, Lamb with veg and potatoes, with the most gorgeous red wine sauce for main and then a raspberry cheesecake for dessert. It was really lovely, and for only £15, a great meal for so cheap!

I’m not a very lucky person generally but I did actually win two of the races! I’m not a huge gambler either, I like to be sensible and only bet a tiny amount on each race. I know the whole point of going to the races is to bet on the dogs but to be honest I just went for the night out. I could see that a lot of people were only there to enjoy the gorgeous food, atmosphere and a few drinks with friends. A lot of people would be put off as they think you have to place a bet, but don’t be, you don’t have too. Just go to enjoy a night out in a different location, and who knows you may fancy a little bet when your there and end up coming home a winner!

Check out their website; http://www.owlertonstadium.co.uk. They always have plenty of fantastic offers available and I can promise you a great and different night out! Give it a try!

Rio Olympics 2016.

Hi Everyone, I’ve had a really busy week this week. I’ve had some time off work which has been amazing but I’ve had plans everyday so Im still feeling pretty tired! What have you been up to? Having heard about all the celebrations that went on around the country yesterday to celebrate the outstanding achievement of team GB at the olympics I thought it would be only fitting to do a post about the most successful Olympic Games for Great Britain! History has been made!

Yesterday was a big UK Sports day! Different cities around the world put on events where anyone could go and try a sport for free. I didn’t personally get involved as I already had plans but what a great idea that was. I hope it has incouraged more people to get involved in olympics sports.

Well then, what can I say about this years Olympics?! They were just spectacular, it was outstanding from start to finish, I have absolutely loved watching them. And to be quite honest, I am gutted that they have finished. The two and a bit weeks seemed to fly by! The opening and closing ceremonies were spectacular in my opinion. I particularly loved the opening where they showed the different stages of Brazil’s evolution, it was extremely interesting.

I am so incredibly proud to be British right now, 67 medals!! How AMAZING is that! And for 27 of them to be Gold too. A huge congratulations to all althletes involved! Personally, my favourite sports to watch were diving, synchronised swimming, cycling, gymnastics and general swimming. I loved the skill that had to go into these sports. I’m not saying there isn’t any skill in any others, I just prefer to watch the type of skill that goes into these particular sports. They all fascinate me! I sat there in awe every night, quite jealous too, ha! The strength, ability and hours of training that each and every althlete had to put in to be at that standard really did show throughout all the sports. I did enjoy watching the majority of the sports if I’m honest though! The sports that didn’t really interest me were taekwondo and fencing. I just didn’t really understand what was involved or what they had to do, so maybe that’s the reason why I avoided them.

I have definitely been inspired to try out more sport. I’ve been looking into places in my area that run badminton classes and I’m looking forward to starting. That’s as far as I’m willing to go for now I think, I’ll try one sport at a time ey! Ha! Are you interested in trying any sports? Let me know what you have been inspired to try out..

Ta ta,

A Much Needed Spa Day!

I haven’t been feeling 100% lately, I’ve felt really uptight and not really myself so what better way to release tension and feel super relaxed? That’s right! I went on a much needed SPA DAY! It was exactly what I needed and I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner. I have felt so much better and a lot more relaxed ever since.

I went last Tuesday to Mercure St Pauls Hotel in the Sheffield City Centre. I hadn’t been to this particular spa before but it really is a lovely one; I will be going again! I felt unbelievably happy, relaxed and well looked after throughout the whole day and the fact I was in a very posh hotel for a very decent price made it even more amazing! I paid £39 for the day which included a 25 minute treatment, refreshments on arrival and full use of the spa facilities. How amazing is that?

On arrival at the hotel we were approached by two lovely receptionists that couldn’t do enough for us, they offered us a hot drink and then took us on a quick tour of the spa facilities.
The spa facilities were heavenly, very well maintained, extremely clean and very classy! In the main section of the spa there is a large pool which had plenty of seating placed around it, a rock sauna, a steam room, a Aroma therapy room (which is like a scented steam room), a ice igloo room and an experience shower which had three different unique settings available. They also have 8 spa treatment rooms with lots of different treatments on offer. I had the ‘time for me’ package but they do have lots of other packages available, take a look: http://www.spanaturelfitness.com/spa-treatments-and-experiences/experiences/

Being able to have a casual swim and make my way around all the different rooms at my own pace was just what I wanted. I have never felt so relaxed, all my worries disappeared and I kind of felt like I was in a big bubble; It was just perfect!
I had a back massage as my 25 minute treatment and I can honestly say it was the best massage I have ever had. I have always had problems with my back due to dancing for a young age and this particular massage made it feel the best it has felt in years. I will be having another one very soon!

I highly recommend you attend St Pauls, I can garantee a great, relaxing day that will leave you feeling refreshed. Check out their website ‘http://www.spanaturelfitness.com/spa/sheffield-st-Pauls’ and for even better offers to attend this particular hotel check out ‘Spabreaks.com’!

Bye for now,
Emily Jane
